Our classes run with the school terms - ten, 2 hour lessons per term. 

Patchwork and Quilting Classes

For beginners to experienced quilters. Morning, afternoon or evening on Tuesday or Wednesdays, with everyone working on their own project at their own pace. Gloria Green, Life Member of the Auckland Patchworkers & Quilters Guild is our tutor. 

Embroidery Classes

Held on Thursday afternoons,  you work at their own pace on what ever takes your fancy.  Rosaline Breen, our tutor, will introduce you to some new and old forms of needlecraft.

 Little Things Class

Tutor: Lyn Grant

Monday Morning, 9.30am to 11.30am

 Lyn will be concentrating  on smaller projects, such as table runners, place mats, bags, etc. Learn the skills needed to put together some great gift ideas.

Dress Making Classes

Thursday Morning, 9.30am to 11.30am

Tutor: Jeanette Ranby

Jeanette is an experienced sewer, who will be able to help you create some one-off originals. For the beginner/intermediate sewer. You will need your own sewing machine and accessories which will need to be brought to class. 

Must Make it – Mondays Afternoons  

Need to finish that quilt quickly or secretly?  Want a table to pin up a quilt? Or just need a few hours away from the usual routine.  Switch your phone off and bring your project in to work on with few interruptions. There is NO TUTOR for this day, although the shop staff will be able to help with any minor issues.

Each term we offer different workshops on Saturdays, our workshops for Term 1 2010 are:

Paverpol – Standing Lady

Saturday, 13^th February 2010. 9.30am to 1.30pm

Tutors: Elaine Orum, Toni Kelly

Cost: $100.00 includes all materials required.

Learn the techniques required to use Paverpol, make and dress a ‘lady’ sculpture ready for the home or garden.

Wear old clothes, no jewellery (especially rings) and be prepared to get dirty. Samples of this fabulous new craft are on display in store

Basic Embroidery Stitches

Saturday, 20^th February 2010, 9.30am to 12.00pm

Tutor: Maree Duffett

Cost: $35.00

Ever marvelled at the wonderful stitcheries and work done by our clever embroiderers?

Maree will teach us the basic stitches needed for stitcheries, candle wicking, crewel and mountmellick work. We will provide the fabric and thread needed for this class and you will go home with samples so you can refer back to these at a later date. 

Jewellery – Tigertail and Bead Necklace

All Tools supplied.

Saturday, 27^th February 2010. 9.30am to 11.30pm

Cost: $40.00

Price includes one packet of Dress it up Beads and all findings required.

Learn the basics of jewellery making using tigertail wire, crimps and beads to create a basic necklace.

Art Quilting – Paint and Crayon Techniques

Saturday, 6^th March 2010, 9.30am to 2.30pm

Tutor: Catherine Parkinson

Cost: $50.00 + materials

Learn the techniques Catherine used to create her quilt, featured in the latest Quilting Arts Calendar,

You will be using paints and crayons and heavily quilting a sample under her expert guidance.

This is a techniques class – you will be able to experiment with different values, colours and mediums.

Work on your PhD Day

Saturday, 13^th March 2010, 9.30am to 4.00pm

Need to work on your PhD’s (Projects half Done). Come and send a fun day with Lyn, you’ll be amazed how much you can accomplish in a day with no distractions,

Patchwork - Lily Wall hanging

Saturday, 20^th March 2010. 9.30am to 4.00pm

Tutor: Gloria Green

Cost: $65.00

Learn some new quilting techniques, - turned appliqué using your sewing machine and finishing your hanging without binding.  A sample is in store now.

Paverpol – Canvas Creation

Saturday, 27^th March 2010. 9.30am to 11.30am

Tutors: Elaine Orum, Toni Kelly

Cost: $45.00

Learn the techniques required using Paverpol to create a canvas wall hanging

Bring along some small pieces of fabric or choose from our selection and arrange these to make a set of clothing on the canvas.

A sample will be displayed on our website and in store shortly.
