Patchwork and Quilting Classes

For beginners to experienced quilters. Morning, afternoon or evening on Tuesday or Wednesdays, with everyone working on their own project at their own pace. Gloria Green, Life Member of the Auckland Patchworkers & Quilters Guild is our tutor. 

 

Little Things Class

Tutor: Lyn Grant

Monday Morning, 9.30am to 11.30am

 Lyn will be concentrating  on smaller projects, such as table runners, place mats, bags, etc. Learn the skills needed to put together some great gift ideas.

 

Dress Making Classes

Thursday Morning, 9.30am to 11.30am

Tutor: Jeanette Ranby

Jeanette is an experienced sewer, who will be able to help you create some one-off originals. For the beginner/intermediate sewer. You will need your own sewing machine and accessories which will need to be brought to class. 

  

Must Make it – Mondays Afternoons or Fridays

Need to finish that quilt quickly or secretly?  Want a table to pin up a quilt? Or just need a few hours away from the usual routine.  Switch your phone off and bring your project in to work on with few interruptions. There is NO TUTOR for this day, although the shop staff will be able to help with any minor issues.

Patchwork – Tips and Techniques

Saturday,  August 14^th 2010, 9.30am 1.30pm

Tutor: Lyn Grant

Cost: $40

Having trouble getting your points accurate? Not sure how to do a binding or mitred corners? This is the class for you.

Lyn will run through some of the basics to make your quilts a little bit nicer. Bring along your questions or problems and she will help you through the tricky stage so you can complete your project

 

Embroidery –Painted Stitchery

Saturday, 21^st August 2010. 9.30am to 2.30pm

Tutor; Amy Bunt (Insley)

Cost: $45.00

Amy has developed a way to bring her stitcheries to life, through painting the background fabric. Learn how, by highlighting some of the main features of the design the stitchery will come alive.  

 

Paverpol – Jeans Pot Plant Holder

Saturday, 28^th August  2010. 9.30am to 11.00am

Tutors: Elaine Orum, Toni Kelly

Cost: $55.00 for denim jeans

We have decided to repeat this class this term.

Learn the techniques required to create this cute Pot Plant Holder using Paverpol. Samples are in store now.

Wear old clothes, no jewellery (especially rings) and be prepared to get dirty.

 

Machine Quilting

Saturday, 4^th September 2010, 9.30am to 4.00pm

Tutor: Gloria Green

Cost: $65.00

Due to popular demand, we are repeating this workshop again this term.

Having nightmares about stitching your quilt together?  Gloria will teach you the basics on machine quilting. This is a technique class, so there is no need to stress about ruining your fabulous quilt top.

 

Patchwork – Bag

Come and make a fun handbag with either fabric or purchased handles in the fabrics of your choice. A great possibility for a Christmas gift. A sample is in store and on our website (Classes and Workshops).
