Quilt-in Quilts for the Victorian Bush Fire Victims
Below are most of the quilts donated to our friends across in Victoria
On the 14th and 15th of March, we held a Quilt-in to make quilts for our friends across the ditch affected by the horrific Bush Fires in Victoria. Leading up to the weekend, we asked our customers and suppliers for donations of fabric and within a week were inundated with more fabric than we could use. In the preceeding weeks, this was sorted, cut and sent home with willing volunteers, who cut, pieced, quilted and bound. The more kits we gave out, the more donations kept coming in. We had up to 35 ladies all doing their bit on our big weekend, and it was great to be able to share lunch, a few laughs and get to know these wonderful ladies better. Altogether we accomplished 134 amazing quilts, which were delivered to Australia free of charge by Mainfreight. We are now getting feed back from the recipients of the quilts, so is wonderful to know they have gone to good homes. All the left over fabric is being donated to the local quilting guilds for community quilts. Our faith in human nature has been restored - long may it continue.
